In-Depth Study Program

Wednesday Foundation Program

Wednesdays | 6:30-8:30pm
with Resident Teacher, Gen Tsoglam

Are you ready to deepen your practice and experience?

Unlike our weekly drop-in classes, the Foundation Program (FP) is an enrolled program designed for those with some experience of Kadampa Buddhism who wish to deepen their understanding through a systematic study of a text by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.

When you join, you will experience the great benefits of being part of this study program and spiritual community. Through this, you can improve your good heart and your wisdom by going deeper with your study and meditation practice.

Class will meet each Wednesday from 6:30-8:30pm, with breaks over the summer and holidays.

Book: New Eight Steps to Happiness

The FP is studying New Eight Steps to Happiness.

A detailed and practical explanation of one of Buddhism's best-loved teachings, Eight Verses of Training the Mind, by the great Tibetan Bodhisattva, Langri Tangpa. Clear methods are simply presented for transforming all life's difficulties into valuable spiritual insights, for improving our relationships, and for bringing greater patience, empathy and compassion into our daily life. These methods have inspired generations of Buddhist practitioners for almost a thousand years, and brought lasting peace, inspiration and serenity to countless people. Now, with this book, Venerable Geshe Kelsang shares the immeasurably rich insight of this ancient wisdom to help us find greater happiness and meaning in our busy, modern lives. With this revised presentation, The New Eight Steps to Happiness, Venerable Geshe-la re-introduces us to the essential practices of Training the Mind. He not only challenges our entire understanding of the world, but also challenges us to transform ourself into the greatest being we can possibly become!

Everyone, whether religious or non-religious, is looking for happiness all the time and wants to be free from problems and suffering permanently. We can fulfill these wishes through understanding and practicing the instructions given in this book.

There are weekly reading assignments of a few pages from the text, and the class includes discussions and meditations on the week’s readings.

Sunday Teacher Training Program

Teacher Training Program

Sundays | 4:00-6:30pm (in progress)
with Resident Teacher, Gen Tsoglam

"Our present understanding and experience of Dharma is quite superficial. We are like someone who has entered a huge food store and seen many things but sampled only a few. We may have received many different teachings from many different Teachers, but we have taken in very little, just a few morsels. Therefore, our actual experience remains superficial.

Why is this? It is because we are not studying systematically according to a specially-designed program. If we just pick at Dharma randomly we will never gain a deep and stable experience, and our wisdom will never become like a full moon." Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

Book: Great Treasury of Merit

Great Treasury of Merit is an extraordinary book that contains clear instructions on how to rely on a Spiritual Guide, the foundation for all spiritual attainments.

It provides a complete explanation of how to practice Offering to the Spiritual Guide, one of the most important meditation practices of Kadampa Buddhism.

A work of unparalleled profundity and clarity, this book contains a wealth of accessible and practical instructions on Lamrim, Lojong and Mahamudra, the very essence of Buddha’s teachings. An indispensable handbook for all those who wish to accomplish the swift path to enlightenment.

At every level of Buddhist practice, relying upon the Spiritual Guide is regarded as the source of inspiration, understanding, and progress on the spiritual path. But nowhere is this practice more important than in Tantra.
